Interserve contributes to fund for monument to commemorate key workers at Russells Hall HospitalInterserve has made a generous donation to help pay for a monument to commemorate key workers at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Councillor Keiran Casey launched the project to construct a monument to honour the work undertaken by the NHS and all key workers during the UK’s response to COVID-19.

Interserve provides facilities management services at the NHS hospital in the West Midlands and employs more than 700 colleagues on the cleaning contract. Services delivered include catering and domestic services.

Councillor Keiran Casey said: “I am delighted that Interserve has offered this wonderful donation to help us fulfil our ambition of raising a permanent monument outside the hospital which would act as a lasting reminder to us all of the bravery and hard work of NHS, healthcare and key workers during this crisis.

“Hospitals, care homes and key workers have played an unbelievably important role in treating our loved ones, keeping them safe and looked after and the country running during this difficult time.

“We all owe more than words can say to those right on the frontline in the fight against this virus. We think this monument would be a fantastic way to publicly recognise the work of all workers across Dudley and would be a lasting reminder to all.”

Interserve delivers a wide range of services to public and private sector clients across the UK that have formed part of the response to COVID-19. The company provides total facilities management services to 11 hospitals, half-a-dozen healthcare centres, the Scottish National Blood Transport Service and critical sectors such as the BBC, Network Rail and many others.

Lynn Mawdsley, Managing Director for Interserve’s Support Services Division, said: “We are delighted to recognise the outstanding role undertaken by key workers and NHS colleagues across the country and to support Councillor Keiran Casey’s idea of constructing a memorial at Russells Hall Hospital.

“We have been proud and humbled to support the NHS team and their incredible efforts to combat the dreadful COVID-19 virus.”
